With Donald Trump now the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, he’s in the spotlight for choosing a running mate. A diverse array of potential vice presidential candidates has emerged, many of whom literally stood behind Trump during his victory speech after securing the GOP primary win in New Hampshire.

Among these hopefuls were figures like Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. Their confident presence, nodding along as Trump criticized opponent Nikki Haley, signaled their aspirations for the VP slot.

Despite Haley’s persistence after successive defeats in key primary states, she eventually withdrew from the race following Super Tuesday contests in March.

Trump has now shifted focus to selecting his running mate, promising an announcement soon. A straw poll conducted among Conservative Political Action Conference attendees highlighted South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Ramaswamy as favored contenders on Trump’s shortlist, according to right-wing news network Real America’s Voice.
